Training for the Bay Area Senior Olympics

One thing I have been extremely grateful for is my ability to maintain a health level that sometimes surpasses my peers. Almost 58 years old (March 5th), I am entering the East Bay Senior Olympics that will be held at Stanford University, in the 100m and 200m.
I began my training this week, and have placed some challenges that I expect will push me to my physical capacity. For example, this past Sunday I walked 2.4 miles, ran one lap around the track, ran a full 100m (24:49), which is slow; I have to hit at least 14:19 in order to compete with women my own age. Do you believe it? There are women that has challenged and defied age, and I hope to be one of them.

Part of my training is to walk the hilly streets of Pinole, CA. The roads are straight up, and walking them is a trip. I have also added Samba dance because of the use of my legs and it is extremely physical.

So I'll check in from time to time to let you know my progress. I hope to see you at Stanford on March 11th, where the 100m meet is 10 am and the 200m is at 12 noon.
