Running the Race, Ecclesiastes 9:11

On Sunday, March 11, 2012, I ran the 100 meter sprint in the California State Senior Games at Stanford University. My daughter traveled up from LA, while several dear friends were also there to cheer me on. I had been training for months and now it was finally here. While my health attempted to give-way, I remained prayerful that I would be blessed to accomplish my heart's desire.

With my West Indian posse (my daughter and friends), my competitive edge came into play. I wore our national ancestral colors of green, gold, and black. I embraced the Jamaican flag and posed to "Bolt" move. We all laughed and expressed how we would go to lunch after my task.

Grateful, I would like to share with you to not to give up on your dreams; no matter how small or how large. You don't have to be fast, are as strong; just consistent. Not only did I finish, I came in second in my age category. What was wonderful about this accomplishment is that I finished.

I'm reminded of Ecclesiastes 9:11 that informed me that God's word establishes an encouragement in one's spirit that informs consistency. From my academic perspectives to professional accomplishments, I can accomplish my goals because my God strengthens me.
